The Chapel
Housed in one of the castle's two medieval towers, this chapel has served as a private sanctuary since the 17th century, dedicated to Saint Cecilia, the patroness of the blind and musicians.
The private chapel offers a serene and sacred setting for a variety of religious ceremonies. Its timeless architecture and intimate atmosphere make it an ideal venue for weddings, baptisms, and other spiritual rites.
The altar, designed in the Italian Baroque style, features tiered gradines that support monumental candlesticks. At its center, the Maltese Cross is prominently displayed, symbolizing the lineage of past generations of landlords who were members of the Order of Malta. This cross represents values of loyalty, bravery, sacrifice, and the eight obligations of the knights, including truth, faith, and humility. The Order of Malta traces its origins to the Knights Hospitaller, a Catholic chivalric and military order founded around 1099 by Blessed Gerard in the Kingdom of Jerusalem.
The altar also contains a shard of the Holy Cross and sand from the Holy Land. The chapel’s stained glass windows, dating back to the 18th century, include some panels that were damaged during World War II.
This sacred space remains dedicated to worship and prayer, and weddings held here are often said to be especially blessed.
